She received her MA, PhD and Post-Doctoral degrees from said university. She was former Vice-President and Associate Director at USP International Cooperation Office (2015-2021), Coordinator of the W.B.Yeats Chair of Irish Studies (since 2009) and co-founder and former president of Irish Studies Associations – SILAS (2003/ 2006-2009); ABEI (1988/ 2009-2018). She is co-founder of the Alliance of Chairs of Irish Studies in Latin America and IASIL vice-chairperson for Latin America and the Caribbean (former “Other Countries”). Author of Mirrors and Holographic Labyrinths. The Process of an Aesthetic Synthesis in the Novels of John Banville (NY, Oxford: International Scholars Publications, 1999), Narrativas de la diáspora irlandesa bajo la Cruz del Sur (Buenos Aires: Corregidor, 2010-11) y O Trauma Cultural: Ressonâncias literárias irlandesas (SP: Editora FFLCH, 2020) among numerous chapters and articles on Irish contemporary literature, Irish in South America, (post/de)coloniality, cultural trauma, memory and diaspora studies.

Editor and co-curator of Roger Casement in Brazil (2010) with exhibitions in Brazil and abroad; co-editor of ABEI Journal (since 1999) and various books: Lectures (since 2010), the Portuguese translation of The Amazon Journal of Roger Casement (2016), Secrets from Putumayo by Aurélio Michiles (2021), and Transatlantic Crises of Democracies (2022) among others. Her FAPESP postdoctoral Fellowships were at University of London-Trinity College Dublin (2004) and Jawaharlal Nehru University, India (2013) where she was visiting Professor, as well as at Universidad Nacional de La Pampa, Argentina (1997, 2006, 2015). In 2024, she was Research Fellow at the Trinity Long Room Hub (TCD/ FAPESP) and curated the exhibition “Entanglement” by the Irish artist Rita Duffy at Centro Universitário Maria Antonia/USP. She coordinates academic exchanges, national and international research networks and the research group “Literary Narratives and Identities in diaspora spaces” (since 1998).

La profesora Jane Ohlmeyer, MRIA, FBA, FTCD, FRHistS fue una de las impulsoras detrás del Proyecto de Deposiciones de 1641 y del desarrollo del Instituto de Investigación en Artes y Humanidades Trinity Long Room Hub. Presidió el Consejo Irlandés de Investigación (2015-21). En 2023 recibió una beca ERC avanzada para realizar VOICES, un proyecto sobre las experiencias vividas por las mujeres en la Irlanda de la época moderna temprana. 

She is the author or editor of numerous articles and 11 books. Her latest Making Empire: Ireland, Imperialism and the Early Modern World (Oxford, 2023) is based on the 2021 Ford Lectures in Oxford. In 2023 she was awarded the Royal Irish Academy Gold Medal in the Humanities.

Escritora, académica y cineasta proveniente de Wexford, Nic Dhiarmada se formó en Trinity College, Dublin y UCD. Impartió clases en UCD antes de trabajar en televisión para RTÉ y TG4. Regresó al mundo académico en UL en 2006. Ha sido Investigadora Visitante Internacional Distinguida en la Universidad de Missouri y obtuvo una beca Fulbright sénior en la Universidad de Notre Dame antes de unirse al cuerpo docente a tiempo completo como profesora titular.

Nic Dhiarmada ha escrito numerosos guiones y ha producido, escrito y dirigido documentales premiados, incluida la serie documental multipremiada 1916 narrada por Liam Neeson y proyectada en todo el mundo, incluidas las emisiones de RTÉ, PBS y BBC.

Among the awards were the American Public Television Award for Excellence and the Best Documentary Series, Irish Film and Television Academy Awards 2016. Her book 1916- The Irish Rebellion won the Foreward Prize for History. She is the writer and producer of the 4-part series and documentary feature film entitled From that Small Island- The Story of the Irish (2025) narrated by Colin Farrell.

Directora del Centro de Estudios Mexicanos (1999-2023), ha sido ampliamente publicada en los campos de estudios literarios y estudios culturales visuales contemporáneos de México, con un enfoque particular en el género. Gran parte de su trabajo se ha centrado en las respuestas culturales a la violencia e incluye una monografía sobre el feminicidio en Ciudad Juárez (Cultural Representations of Feminicidio on the U.S.-Mexico Border, Routledge). Además, ha publicado diversos artículos y capítulos de libros, así como curado exposiciones y ha hecho participación comunitaria y activismo cultural de estudiantes y personal académico. Interesada en la colaboración multidisciplinaria, cuenta con una amplia experiencia en la curaduría y coordinación de exposiciones, entre ellas Entre Mundos/Between Worlds: Images of Life between Mexico and Ireland (2019-2023) y OUTPOSTS: global borders and national boundaries en The Glucksman (2017-2018).Cultural Representations of Feminicidio on the U.S.-Mexico Border) with Routledge, articles, book chapters, exhibitions, community engagement and student/staff cultural activism. Interested in multi-disciplinary collaboration, she has extensive experience of exhibition curation and co-ordination including Entre Mundos/Between Worlds: Images of Life between Mexico and Ireland in 2019-2023, and OUTPOSTS: global borders and national boundaries at The Glucksman, in 2017-2018. 

Comprometida con la exploración de las interconexiones generativas entre Irlanda y América Latina, recientemente dirigió un equipo de investigación en University College Cork y la Universidad de Ulster con un proyecto titulado Critical Epistemologies Across Borders, financiado por el North-South Research Programme (NSRP). Este proyecto integra prácticas artísticas latinoamericanas y metodologías feministas para generar diálogos sobre mujeres, identidad y nuevos futuros constitucionales en la isla de Irlanda. Actualmente, trabaja en un libro sobre ética, política y prácticas artísticas centradas en la infancia en la frontera entre México y Estados Unidos. Asimismo, su libro Day of the Dead and the COVID-19 Pandemic in Mexico, UK and Ireland, coescrito con Jane Lavery (Palgrave, 2025), analiza las reconfiguraciones culturales, comerciales y colectivas de las prácticas conmemorativas mexicanas del duelo, incluida la celebración de Día de Muertos, durante y después de la pandemia. Day of the Dead and the COVID-19 Pandemic in Mexico, UK and Ireland, co-authored with Jane Lavery (Palgrave 2025), examines the cultural, commercial and collective reconfigurations of Mexican commemorative mourning practices including the Day of the Dead, during and since the pandemic.
